My sunroof is stuck open!! What can I do?

I have a 2002 Mercury Cougar and when I push the button that opens & closes the sunroof there is no movement or noise. I went by Lincoln Mercury and they said the motor was jammed and it would cost 1200.00 to fix it. I don't have the money so can I opt to just have it closed without breaking anything in the sunroof? Hellllppp. I currently reside in Durham NC any information would be greatly appreciated.

since its broken already, you could try putting a little dish soap on the tracks and pulling it....anything you do it though you run the risk of it breaking more.
