Sub Blazer

Sub Blazer
99 Blazer, How can I stop killing alternators ?

I have a 99 Blazer with 2 kicker L7 subs and a 1200 watt mono kicker amp. I have a brand new battery and brand new alternator, got lifetime warranty on alternator and have replaced it twice in a month until I got sick of changing it and unhooked the system. How can I stop ruining my alternators and still have my subs ? I have a 15 farad Alumapro capacitor but unsure of how to install it since I dont have the relays.Any suggestions would help.
the wiring for the amp is all 4 gauge wire

well my friend unfortunately you will likely need a larger alternator, but considering you have a lifetime warrenty and i suspect would like to try and use it if at all posisble here is what i recomend...

first - do not use the capacitor, it will only add to the load of your alternator, it stores power it does not produce it....

second... do a big three upgrade and re-run 2 gage wire for the amp.

third i would use a multi meter and set the gains on the amp as if it is a 1000 watt amp and not a 1200 watt. you will not hear a difference in volume, but it will reduce some load...

see 1 db is the least that the ear can detect and it takes 2x the power to make 3db difference. sooo.... from 1200-1000 will be less than a 1db difference..

do that and run the amp upto but not over the point of clipping and you sgould be o.k.... if it goes out again, then adjust gains to say a 800 watt.... ect......

or.... you can sometimes get a different pulley that runns th ealternator to a bit higher output... fairly cheap and it may give you 5-10% more output...
