88-91 HONDA crx/CIVIC electrical problems. help(DETAILED)?
Hello, I am having issues with my Honda CRX. it's the 1.6liter ZC engine.
Here's what's going on.
We took off the intake manifold to replace a leaking gasket, and also we changed the oil filter and changed the oil.
When we put it on, the main power to the alternator sparked and blew out the 50a main power fuse in the main power box under the hood.
We replaced this part, but when we try to fire it up, no gasoline goes through the intake at all, and the Relay under the Drivers steering wheel clicks repeatedly when you turn it over to the third notch on the ignition. The clock also decided not to work.
Now I realize that it may be an electrical problem, but can anyone please give me an idea of what i should look at/for in my system? Thank you!

the main relay controls the fuel pump and if you are hearing a click from the relay then it sounds like the relay isn't holding so the fuel pump isn't running. you can confirm that the fuel pump isn't running by opening the fuel filler cap and put your ear near the inlet tube. then have a friend turn the igintion key to the ON position. you should hear a buzzing noise of an electric motor running for about 2-5 seconds. if you don't then the fuel pump isn't running and the clicking relay would typically be the reason why.
the relay clicks when the magnetic field on the coil side of the relay collapses and the contacts break then re-engage when the magnetic field builds enough force to pull them together. you may have damaged some of the windings in the main relay coil and the clicking is the indication that the pump isn't working.
the main relay is under the driver's side of the dash on the left above the kick panel. if that's the one that's clicking that would seem to be your problem
I would also check the fuses in the under dash fuse box. the main relay has two fuses. I think the fuse numbers are 10 and 14; they are both 10 amp fuses. you may have fried one of them. that may account for the clock problem or that may be separate. the clock is on the same circuit as the audio system if i'm not mistaken so if the stereo doesn't work then the fuse is definitely burnt.
i think your problem is with the main relay and you may have also blown a fuse.
